Accessibility Statement
What we mean to do
We want everyone to be able to use Kesher's website and control panel, including people who see less well, people who have difficulty reading, people who use a screen reader, and people who work with the keyboard only, without a mouse. To do this we did two things: we built the pages to work with the user's assistive tools, and we added an accessibility menu that lets you adjust the display to your personal needs.
The website was built in accordance with the Israeli standard SI 5568 and the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
The accessibility menu
On every page of the website, and in the control panel, there is an "Accessibility" button in the bottom corner. Clicking it opens a menu of adjustments. You can also open it with the keyboard, using the shortcut Alt+A.
Everything you choose is saved in the browser and applies immediately on all pages of the site, including the next time you visit. There is no need to set it up again on every page. The settings are stored on your computer only and are not sent to us.
Quick setup
Seven ready-made packages, one click each, for those who don't want to build the settings themselves: low vision, screen reader, dyslexia, attention and focus, seniors, motor limitation, and motion sensitivity. Each package turns on several adjustments together, and you can keep fine-tuning by hand.
The adjustments themselves
| Group | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Text | Gradual text enlargement (up to 150%), a readable font without decoration, line and letter spacing, and highlighting of headings on the page. |
| Color and contrast | A dark background with light text, increased contrast, grayscale display, a choice of personal background and text colors, and adjustment for three types of color blindness (red, green, blue). Also: hiding images, or showing a text description under every image. |
| Reading and navigation | Read-aloud on click, a magnifying glass that shows the text under the cursor, a reading ruler for a line, a large mouse cursor, highlighting of links and buttons, larger click areas, a prominent focus mark in keyboard navigation, stopping animations, fast keyboard navigation, and skipping by headings or by page regions. |
| Reset | One button that cancels all the adjustments and returns the page to its regular display. |
Read-aloud
When read-aloud is on, clicking any text on the page reads it aloud in Hebrew. Clicking a link or a button reads it aloud first and activates it only on a second click, so you can know where the click leads before it happens. Esc stops the reading. The reading uses a voice installed in the browser, so its quality depends on the computer.
Keyboard navigation
You can move around the whole site with Tab and Enter alone. At the top of every page there is a "Skip to page content" link that appears when you reach it by keyboard, to skip the menu. When you turn on "Keyboard shortcut navigation" in the menu, jump keys are also enabled:
- H: to the next heading
- L: to the next link
- F: to the next field
- B: to the next button
- R: to the next region on the page
- Shift together with any of the keys: go back
What is already built into the pages themselves
- The pages are in Hebrew and laid out right to left, with correct language markup for screen readers.
- Every image has a text description, and every button and link has a name that is clear even without seeing it.
- A visible focus mark in keyboard navigation, even without turning on any adjustment.
- Messages that update in real time (for example, a save confirmation) are announced to the screen reader.
- A hierarchical heading structure, and tables with marked column headers.
- Respect for the operating system's "reduce motion" setting.
- The pages also work with browser zoom and on small screens.
What is still not fully accessible
We keep improving the system, and there are a few places that are not yet complete:
- Call recordings and audio content: there is no transcript or captions for recordings created in the PBX. This is content created by the customer and not by us.
- Screenshots in the guides: every screenshot has a description, but it is short and does not detail every item shown in the image. The text before the screenshot explains the content in full.
- Some control panel screens that are under active development may show wide tables that require horizontal scrolling.
Ran into an accessibility problem?
We'd like to hear about it. Write to us through the Contact Us page, and specify which page it happened on, what you were trying to do, and which assistive tool or browser you used. These details help us reproduce the problem and fix it quickly.
We will try to respond to every accessibility inquiry as soon as possible, and let you know what was fixed.
